Details
The purpose of this course is to help improve references of the science and technology fields. The course provides participants an overview of documents exclusively archived for the science and technology fields: an introduction of the main institutions where such documents are archived: the research tools as well as the methods that are described in those documents. The purpose is to acquire basic knowledge.
Paragraph 1: “Introduction”,Paragraph 2: “Study Material”
Contents: We explain the key points of the study material used in the course as well as the goal of learning.
Course duration: 15 minutes

Paragraph 3: “What type of document is exclusively in the science and technology fields?”
Contents: The course provides participants with an overview of documents exclusively of the science and technology fields as well as how to acquire them.
Course duration: 40 minutes

Paragraph 4: “Introduction of institutions where scientific and technological documents are archived”
Contents: The course presents five of the main institutions where documents exclusively for the science and technology fields are archived in Japan and abroad. We will describe the characteristics of each institution and the tool to be used to determine if a document has been archived.
Course duration: 40 minutes

Paragraph 5: “Research of institution where documents exclusively for science and technology are archived”
Contents: The course teaches participants how to search an institution where documents exclusively for the science and technology fields are archived. We also describe how to confirm if a bibliography item is available online as well as what tool to use to search an institution where a document is archived.
Course duration: 60 minutes

Paragraph 6: “Search of institution where documents of the science and technology fields are archived-based on example”
Contents: Based on four sample tasks where a dissertation listed in a Western magazine is obtained. The course describes in detail how to search for an item using the tool.
Course duration: 60 minutes

Paragraph 7: “Review”
Contents: We determine how much you have learned using this study material.
Duration: 5 minutes
Final exam : Review test of 20 questions based Paragraphs 1 -7.
